Human uality? What's going on here?

I've been doing some research for psych, and have come across some odd statistics that I'd like a few opinions on. Pedophilia is defined as an adult whose primary ual interest is in children. However, researchers performed experiments and found that up to a quarter of all *normal* males respond (ie, become slightly ) at least a little to ual images of children, even though they report having no desire to engage in any ual activity with children whatsoever. Why is this? Are up to a quarter of men repressed pedophiles, or are they simply doing what biology programmed them to do, ie, respond to ual imagery? Similarly, it is reported that women are similarly programmed to respond to ANY ual imagery. Women become physically when viewing heterosexual and , and EVEN animal , though they themselves reported very low levels of desire when viewing the images! BUT, researchers suggest that this is not indicative of ism, or a desire for sex with animals. In other words, women's physical arousal levels have very little to do with their sexual preferences. So what is going on here, biologically speaking? Are men and women just programmed to respond to any sexual imagery? I can understand this for women, as it would protect them from (ie, your body automatically responds and gets wet with any kind of stimulation to protect the from damage) but how can you explain the fact that the men were at least somewhat by sexual imagery of children? Are men like women in the sense that they can just pick up on any sexual imagery and may become by it? And let me just be clear that these men DID NOT express any desire to engage in sexual activity with children. So if they aren't pedophiles, why did they get ?
