When should I start to take my babies pacifier away?

My baby is 9 mo. today and I was wondering when I should take her pacifier away from her and get her used to going to sleep without it. I never wanted to give her a pacifier in the first place, but when she was five days old she ended up going into the NICU for a week due to apneia and because the nurses had three babies each to take care of gave all the babies pacifiers to keep them calm. I was angry. But that is the past and now she is pretty attached and it is part of her going to sleep routine along with a special blanket. She does not wake up alot for it and pretty much only needs it when she is getting ready to go to sleep. I just don't want to wait to long and hope I havn't already.
